Quality of music deteriorating?

Oh yes it sure has. I listen almost exclusively to the same bands i listened to in high school.(I'm 28). Lately I've been mostly checking out local bands. Which some are not very good. but now and then you find a really good gem in there. Also back in the era i really liked music. In the late 90's and early 2000s, I just keep checking out the bands that I either ignored back then or never knew existed. I suggest the same to you though maybe not in the same era, whatever one you really like, Hope this helps
