Writers, what would you do if...?
To answer your main question, i would just consider changing you're book to make it better than the other, but I would be frustrated. To answer your BQ, most writers do not get published. To answer your BQ 2, I enjoy the stereotypical coffee shop or Pannera bread restaurant (:
